What is the best speed package for me?

Choosing the right broadband speed depends on how many people are online, how many devices are connected, and what everyone is doing at the same time. Use the guide below to find the plan that best fits your home.

How to choose

  • Think about who is online at the same time. A couple watching TV and browsing will not need the same speed as a family streaming, gaming and working from home together.
  • Count your connected devices. Phones, laptops, tablets, smart TVs, games consoles, cameras and smart speakers can all use your connection.
  • Consider your busiest time of day. If evenings are full of streaming, gaming and video calls, a faster plan may help keep everything running smoothly.
  • Choose more speed if you want extra breathing room. A higher-speed plan can be helpful if your household is growing, adding smart devices, or regularly downloading and uploading large files.

Household examples

  • Small home: One or two people browsing, streaming and making video calls should usually be comfortable with 100–150 Mbps.
  • Family home: Two to four people using several devices at once may be better suited to 200–300 Mbps.
  • Busy connected home: Homes with multiple 4K streams, gaming, smart-home devices and regular downloads may benefit from 500 Mbps or 1 Gbps.
  • Power-user home: Very large households, content creators, people moving large files, or homes with advanced networking needs may want to consider 2 Gbps+.

Still not sure?

  • If you are unsure which plan is best, think about how many people are online during your busiest moments and what they are doing. If your household often streams, games, works from home or uses lots of smart devices at the same time, choosing a faster plan can give everyone more room to do what they need without slowing each other down.  If in doubt you can always discuss the options with our sales team before you sign up.
