Cloud gaming is highly demanding because it requires a constant, two-way, and instant connection - it’s not enough just to stream data. If your connection is unstable, you will experience noticeable lag, delay, or input errors.
This guide explains how to get the best experience from your WiFi.
1. Understand the Two Key Requirements
Cloud gaming performance depends on two main factors, both of which are controlled by your home network:
| Requirement | What it Means | The Impact |
| Speed (Bandwidth) | The volume of data your connection can carry (measured in Mbps). | If too low, the picture quality will drop or the game will freeze (buffering). Minimum recommended speed is 10 Mbps. |
| Delay (Latency/Ping) | The time it takes for your button press to travel to our servers and for the game's response to return to your TV. | If too high, there will be a noticeable lag between pressing a button and seeing the action on the screen. |
2. Troubleshooting for Low Latency
The best way to fix lag is to ensure your WiFi signal is strong and clear of obstructions.
A. Reduce Network Congestion
Your home internet is shared by every device. Close any devices or apps that are using a lot of data:
Turn off or pause downloads on computers, phones, or tablets.
Stop other streaming services (like Netflix or YouTube) on other TVs.
B. Optimise Your Signal Strength
Because the puck connects only via WiFi, the distance from your router is crucial.
Move Closer: If possible, place your Zzoomm Puck closer to your WiFi router.
Avoid Obstructions: Make sure there is a clear path between your puck and your router. Thick walls, large appliances (like fridges or microwaves), and metal objects can block Wi-Fi signals.
C. Power Cycle Your Setup
A simple restart can often clear up network bottlenecks:
Unplug your WiFi router for about five minutes.
While waiting, restart your Zzoomm Puck by unplugging it from the wall.
Plug your router back in, wait for it to fully connect, and then plug your Zzoomm Puck back in.
If your network speed is consistently below 10 Mbps, you may need to contact your Internet Service Provider to upgrade your service.
Please note: You may experience some buffering if you do not have a full Fibre line with quality WiFi. Please check with your Internet Service Provider on whether this can be arranged for you.
